BIRN Reps Deliver Lecture to Colorado University Students

Anisa Suceska-Vekic, director of BIRN Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Erna Mackic, editor and journalist with BIRN – Justice Report, delivered a lecture to visiting postgraduate students from Colorado University at the Faculty of Political Science in Sarajevo on July 16 this year.

As part of the summer school lectures on “Building the Statehood of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Post-Dayton Period”, Suceska-Vekic and Mackic spoke about the work of the BIRN Office in Bosnia and Herzegovina and war crimes trials conducted before the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Apart from BIRN representatives, the students had an opportunity to participate in lectures delivered by officials from the Office of the High Representative, OHR, the European Police Mission, EUPM, the State Prosecution and many university professors and politicians.

In addition to attending lectures, during the eight weeks of summer school the postgraduate students from Colorado University had a chance to participate in field classes held in Srebrenica, Tuzla, and Visegrad, and to volunteer with NGOs in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The summer school on “Building Statehood of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Post-Dayton Period” is organised by the Atlantic Initiative, AI, in collaboration with the Faculty of Political Science of the Sarajevo University.

The school began on June 6 and will end on July 30.
