The state prosecution has called for the repeal of the Dzevad Dulic verdict, which acquitted him of committing wartime rape in the Cazin area in December 1993. The defense objected to the proposal.
The Bosnian state court will hand down a first instance verdict on Friday, September 11, in the Dzevad Dulic trial.
A defense witness testifying at the Dzevad Dulic trial said he fought alongside the defendant in the same brigade and had no knowledge of his alleged criminal activity.
Testifying at the trial of Dzevad Dulic, who is charged with crimes in the Cazin area, a defense witness said the defendant helped him when he was wounded.
Testifying in his own defense, Dzevad Dulic said he didn’t commit rape and wasn’t in the village of Beganovici when the alleged rape took place.
A protected state prosecution witness requested additional protective measures for Dzevad Dulic, who has been accused committing rape during the Bosnian war. After the witness’ request, the public was told to exit the courtroom.
State prosecution witness Mehmed Bajric testified today at the trial of former Bosniak fighter Dzevad Dulic. Bajric, himself a former member of the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina, said that he had taken a statement from a protected witness known as S1 in 1994. S1 had said that she had been raped by Dulic.
The trial of Dzevad Dulic began today with a reading of the indictment, introductory statements, and the examination of the first prosecution witness. Dulic, a former Bosnian Army fighter, is charged with the rape of a woman in the Cazin area in 1993.
