Witness Doesn’t Appear, Eniz Basic Trial Postponed

Dzenana Sivac BIRN BiH Zenica
The cantonal court of Zenica has postponed the Eniz Basic trial because a prosecution witness failed to appear in court.
The witness didn’t show up at today’s hearing. She sent a motion to the trial chamber, and said that she couldn’t attend because of her “family situation and deteriorated health.” The court decided to examine Mijac at a later stage.

Basic, a former member of the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina, is charged with abducting two civilians from a house in the village of Vardiste in April 1993. The burned bodies of the civilians were found a few days later.

The trial will continue on March 12.
