One month of detention for Zeljko Zaric

The Bosnian prosecution has asked the court to keep Zeljko Zaric behind bars for one month while an investigation is carried out.
Zeljko Zaric, suspected of having committed crimes in July 1995, as a member of the Bosnian Serb Bratunac brigade's military police, is to be held in custody for one month, the court of Bosnia and Herzegovina has decided.

According to this decision, custody can last until 5 January 2007.

Zeljko Zaric is suspected of committing crimes against humanity.

The prosecution suspects that there Zaric, as a member of the Military Police Platoon of the Bratunac Light Infantry Brigade of the Army of the Republic of Srpska, together with others,in a period between July 13 and 16, 1995, took part in the execution of Bosniaks at Bratunac stadium, at the Kravica warehouse, and at the Pilica Dom.

The victims were persons who had surrendered or had been captured from the column of men retreating from Srebrenica enclave or had earlier been separated from other civilians in Potocari.

Zaric was arrested on 5 December by members of the State Investigation and Protection Agency.
