After a trial that has lasted more than two years, the Bosnian state court will hand down a verdict in the case of Dzevad Salcin, a former member of the Bosnian Army charged with crimes on Mount Igman in the municipality of Hadzici. The verdict has been scheduled for January 21.
The announcement of the verdict in the Dzevad Salcin trial has been postponed by the Bosnian state court. A new date will be set at a later stage. Salcin has been charged with committing war crimes on Mount Igman.
Presenting its closing statement, the defense of Dzevad Salcin called upon the trial chamber to find Salcin not guilty of wartime prisoner abuse. According to Salcin’s defense, the state prosecution didn’t demonstrate that Salcin was responsible for the abuse of wartime prisoners on Mount Igman in 1993.
At today’s hearing of the Dzevad Salcin trial, the state prosecution presented a statement given by the defendant during the investigation phase of the case. The defense objected to this evidence, and claimed the statement was taken under duress.
The trial chamber requested a new medical examination for Zulfikar Alispago in order to determine whether he is healthy enough to attend his trial.
A defense witness testifying at the Dzevad Salcin trial said he never saw injuries on Dragan Vukovic, a former prisoner who Salcin allegedly assaulted.

The Bosnian state court will hand down a verdict in the trial of Mensur Memic, Dzevad Salcin, Senad Hakalovic, Nedzad Hodzic and Nihad Bojadzic on July 13. The defendants have been charged with committing war crimes in the village of Trusina, near Konjic, on July 13, 1993.
