Former Croatian Defence Council fighter Marijan Brnjic was found guilty of raping a Serb woman in the Odzak area in 1992 and sentenced to six years in prison.
The state court postponed the announcement of the verdict in the trial of Marijan Brnjic, Martin Barukcic, Pavo Glavas and Ilija Glavas. The defendants have been charged with war crimes in the Odzak area.
After a trial that’s lasted more than a year, the Bosnian state court will hand down a verdict in the case of Marijan Brnjic, Martin Barukcic, Pavo Glavas and Ilija Glavas on November 26, 2015. The defendants have been accused with wartime rape in the Odzak area.
In their closing statements, the defense teams of Marijan Brnjic, Martin Barukcic, Pavo Glavas and Ilija Glavas called upon the court to acquit their clients of charges of wartime rape in the Odzak area in 1992.

Testifying in his own defense, Pavo Glavas said he was working in Switzerland in May and June 1992, the dates of his alleged rapes in Odzak. He presented material evidence to support this claim.

Testifying her husband’s defense, Martin Barukcic’s wife claimed he was on the island of Vir in Croatia in June 1992, the period when he allegedly raped a civilian in the Odzak area.
Friends and family members testifying in defense of Martin Barukcic described him as good, decent and non-violent. His aunt and uncle said Barukcic was in Croatia during the time period covered in the indictment.
