The defence has asked for a closed trial in order to protect the private life of Foca rape accused.
The trial of Radmilo Vukovic, who is charged with the war crime of rape, will begin on January 10, 2007, in accordance with the trial chamber's decision announced at the status conference.
The prosecution has asked for two days to question two witnesses and present physical evidence, while the defence announced that it would question up to four witnesses as well as a neuro-psychiatric court expert.
As physical evidence, the prosecution intends to present the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) verdicts from the trials of Dragoljub Kunarac and Milorad Krnojelac, who sentenced to 28 and 15 years imprisonment respectively for crimes they committed on the territory of Foca.
Defence attorney Vojo Radovic said that some witnesses will speak of the character of the indictee and his family, and proposed a closed hearing so that "the presentation of personal details of the indictee would not endanger his marriage".
The prosecution has charged the indictee with the physical and psychological abuse of protected witness A. In the indictment it stands that the indictee raped her on multiple occasions during June and August 1992 in Miljevina, Foca municipality, after which she had a child.
In the indictment it is claimed that on June 10, 1992 Vukovic came to protected witness A's apartment under the excuse that he was taking her to the military headquarters in Miljevina. Instead, he took her to an apartment where he"hit her on various parts of her body, threatened her with death while putting a gun to her temple and a knife on her neck", after which he raped her.
As is further stated in the indictment, the indictee threatened protected witness A that he would kill her if she told anyone about what he had done to her.
According to the indictment, until August 24 or 27, 1992 protected witness A had to come to the same apartment every time the indictee called her and he would rape her again.
