Bozic et al: Accelerate evidence presenting

The Defence of the four indictees gives up the examination of a former Major with the Dutch Battalion in Srebrenica.
Due to "complications" related to the examination of Robert Alexander Franken, a former Major with the Dutch Battalion in Srebrenica, the Defence of the four indictees decided not to examine him in order to "accelerate the process."

"We wish to accelerate the process, which has been slowed down due to our proposal to examine this witness, we have decided not to examine Franken," Defence attorney Danilo Mrkaljevic said on behalf of the Defence teams.

Zdravko Bozic, Mladen Blagojevic, Zeljko Zaric and Zoran Zivanovic, former members of the Military Police with the Bratunac Brigade of the Republika Srpska Army, are charged with having guarded the buses which transported captured men from Srebrenica, as well as the school building in Bratunac, where they were detained, in July 1995.

The examination of Franken, which was supposed to be conducted via video link on Friday, July 11, 2008, has been cancelled because the necessary conditions have not been met.

The Defence included, as material evidence, "a list of war criminals, known to the First Light Infantry Brigade," which contains names of the people associated with the crimes committed in Srebrenica, Bratunac and Milici area on July 12, 1995.

The State Prosecution did not object the inclusion of this piece of evidence.

The evidence presenting by the four Defence teams will be completed at the next hearing, scheduled for August 22, when the Defence of Bozic will present one more piece of material evidence.

The Trial Chamber asked the State Prosecution to prepare its additional evidence presentation plan by then.
