Police arrested former fighter Mato Baotic on suspicion that he raped two Serb women in 1992 in Orasje in northern Bosnia.
The Bosnian prosecution said on Tuesday that Baotic was arrested on suspicion that, as a member of Bosnian Croat forces, he forced two women to have sexual intercourse between May and November 1992.
“It is suspected that in May 1992, with another man, he took a woman to a house in Orasje where they raped her using psychological and physical abuse,” said the prosecution.
The prosecution also said that Baotic raped a second woman at the primary school in Orasje, which was being used in 1992 as a prison for Serb civilian detainees.
Baotic will be questioned by the prosecution, which will then decide whether to file a custody motion.
